  My only reservation about this, is that it's really easy for people to incorrectly gauge the fine line between patience and submission. In the age of immediate and extreme gratification, anything remotely dissatisfying or annoying can trigger an avoidant response. And if everyone maintains a low threshold for tolerance, we perpetuate the already miserably lonely society that we currently endure. People are naturally flawed, they get into bad moods, and they go through challenges. A fair weather friend who's only ready to be around positive people, is going to live a very shallow and inhuman existence. Discerning that balance is a graceful act that merely takes experience, self awareness, and growing up.

  a lot of our so called friends are our friends purely due to proximity e.g work and school. most of them will forget to text you a month after grad it’s so jarring

  oh my god i got so sick of telling my ex-friend that "hey girl, that man is no good" and then she comes crying to me weeks later saying "rachellll that man was no good" like, girl come on 🤨

  Team no friends where you at? 🙋🏻‍♀️😂 But seriously all of my “friends” are just people I text and exchange memes with occasionally and they all live in other states and countries.<br><br>*Edit to answer your question: I cut off a friend a few years ago after she consistently stopped asking me anything about me or my life. There was no balance of give and take with her. It was always about her and I couldn’t do it anymore. Another friend I quit talking to after she kept asking to borrow money from me and either not repaying me or she would but it would be months later followed by some lame excuse.

  I distanced myself from high school friends recently. They weren&apos;t toxic necessarily, but we didn&apos;t click at all anymore.

  I&apos;m almost 40, finally found boundaries. Turns out the less people around you the smaller chance of having a draining narcissist next to you. But keep your senses up no matter what.

  I had to cut off a crisis friend. I’d known her for 17 years. The rest of us grew up, she grew worse. Last time I saw her, I was buying her dinner yet again, and she ended up shouting at me in the restaurant. I went home, cried over how I’d been treated, and muted her contact. Four unread messages have been sitting in my phone for two years now, and I’m not curious what she said. I already know it’s antagonistic drivel.

  As a 34-year-old millennial, I felt this deeply. I’ve had to silently cut off toxic friends who genuinely didn&apos;t care about my well-being, and while it&apos;s absolutely necessary and okay to protect your peace, it&apos;s also becoming so mainstream to just discard people. We really need to go back to the basics of being understanding of one another. At some point, we have to be honest with ourselves and realize that we’re all human, we all make mistakes, and we can&apos;t just cut everyone out the second things get uncomfortable.

  I really hate how people say &quot;I love you&quot; so casually. I had a friend that I also worked with for 2 years and she never actually cared about my wellbeing and what I was doing while I was always texting/calling her to see how she was. I wasnt even spam texting/calling cause I&apos;m not very sociable, but I gave her my time and energy. <br><br>Then, she quit the job without letting me know and ghosted me like she wasn&apos;t telling me that she loved me and that I was a sister to her. That really messed me up and I haven&apos;t made a friend since. It&apos;s been a year.
