This is far worse in jail. The Asylum was sicker than the patients. So sad!

My brother was overdosed and was brought back after given THORAZINE! My mother became a mental health advocate. He also was in Byberry and refused his meds after being attacked by another patient and the staff watched and did NOTHING TO HELP HIM!! MENTAL HEALTH CARE HAS NOT CHANGED!!

I spent a lot of time exploring byberry as a kid the tunnels and the morgue and all the rooms was pretty interesting.

I'm on North Philly chick... I have been in a few psychiatric places myself.... I haven't even been to jail and when I say these are the two main places you are not safe😢

Spent many days roaming the tunnels and building. So much history and suffering in 163 acres. Although gone, there are still reminders of it's existence . . . If you know were to look. A new home sits on the location of the morgue theater. I wonder if the owners know . . .

As far as having double the patient capacity at this facility and even worse at Greystone in New Jersey- that's all behind getting more money. They didn't have to accept patients and destroy the atmosphere making it a warehouse. Greed.

This was so interesting to me . I had a relative who had shock treatment and also others in my family who had to go to hospital for psychiatric care. I am in nursing. Many of our residents are from local hospitals due to over crowded conditions.

The thing that disturbs me the most is that the victims of these systems have not been recognized. They are among the other ghosts we run from. Recognition goes so much further than any of us realize. My portion of the American soul has repented.
