  To be fair, Pikachu learning Electro Ball for Volt Tackle wasn&apos;t an active choice.<br>It just kinda happened.<br>If anything, Volt Tackle was converted into Electro Ball, and then into Electro Web.

  From a meta sense, this would likely be the case… if the anime actually did a proper job of following and utilizing all of the game mechanics at this point. It actually takes quite a few seasons before gets at least good enough that there’s hardly anything to notice. <br><br>No, the meta reason for Charizard’s disobedience was simply a bunch of plot contrived, teenage angst. He literally evolved too fast and outgrew his childhood friend.

  I remember Ash caught Krabby because in one episode everyone said that all of Ash&apos;s pokemon until that point willingly decided to go with him and he never actually caught anything on his own. This led him to pick up a stick and 1vs1 a Krabby on the beach without using any pokemon and then catching it. Then when he went to check in with Oak he sees that Garry caught one that&apos;s like 3x the size of the one he caught.

  I could be wrong, but I remember seeing something about them wanting to avoid any &quot;cultural odor&quot; when media was being translated and localized at the time. <br><br>If thats true Im really glad that practice has been abandoned

  Adef picking that hardest difficulty was actually just him leveling the playing field cuz he’s way too good at slamming his head into brick walls and actually breaking them down
