I target these zones and the fringes for nuggets large enough and close enough to the surface to be detected with a Minelab pulse induction metal detector.
Follow the ancient hot springs!

#1 Are there known placer=stream deposits nearby? Gold is a durable, resistant product of erosion. If a region is not already known for gold deposits, it is very likely be sterile. Once on an area with proven occurrences, then you can apply various geological concepts to look for sources in the rock.

0:05 I cheated! I just said a prayer to find some cool geology that will allow me to understand more…. specifically crisicola, I did ask for that…. and within 30 minutes I found a huge crisicola agate with copper arsenic and gold nuggets…. Thought I would never find gold, didn’t even think to ask….
Everything I found was where geology maps said it wasn’t, and where geologists told me I was waisting my time. I just wanted to walk my dogs and find something cool…..
I did notice houses made of stone on one side of the mountain, I did notice a couple houses with a quartz stone walls with streaking crisicola in those stone builds, followed the fault to the other side of the mountain…. Bingo
