Who else can listen to this masterpiece in almost 2024?
Its wonderfull! And the elegant and luxurious ballrooms with candellight fit excellent to this waltz! They all dance very well!
I can listen to this several times, I won’t feel bored! Great 👍🏼!

This song was my wedding dance! I'm not sure if there is a person who can explain his feelings when he hears this wonderful waltz. Every time I hear it my heart is filled with beautiful feelings and so much warmth.....

What’s most fascinating is that there’s a well-grounded interpretation that Dmitri Shostakovich wrote this waltz as a subtle musical joke.

He doesn’t quote specific pieces, but it feels as if he brings together the entire “spirit” of Russian waltzes — from salon classics to light popular tunes — and turns it into a single, unified image.

And the result is a paradox:
out of irony and stylization emerges a true masterpiece that sounds simple and familiar, yet at the same time uneasy and deeply expressive.
