Thank you for this video. Duke is my all time favourite Genesis album.
My favourite track is Heathaze.
The track I always skip is Misunderstanding.

For me, the most fascinating thing about the album is, in my opinion, the complete dichotomy between the music and the lyrics.
I was studying music at the time (1982) and recognised some of the devices employed by Rutherford and Banks to switch to minor chords and hold the tension, then build up to a powerful crescendo and upon reaching the top, switch to a major chord with an explosion of emotion. It is a rollercoaster of gripping emotions which takes hold of you, lifting you up, leaving you breathless yet inspired, confident, strong and positive. It is a love story with its tense lows and exquisite highs, but with a sweet gratifying ending. Such is the masterful musical tapestry woven throughout the album. Yet, analysing the lyrics you soon see the words as the mirror image. They are dark, depressing, somewhat paranoid and delusional. A man on the verge of a breakdown, reliving past conversations and fabricating details of what could have been said but wasn't. Like the artwork, which is full of bright colours and pretty objects, yet each one with its elements like legs, hands, heads, branches and leaves, disturbingly distorted and not to scale. A paradox of emotional expression.

I do love this album. It's special. I remember being in my room in Aberdeen in the beautiful warm summer of Summer 1989 playing 'Man of our Times' ten times in a row on cassette. I could rewind the tape to the exactly correct spot. It's a fantastic song in my view and massively underrated.

You deserve some type of award for these. I am not even joking. I believe this is about the 3rd time I’ve seen this one alone. Phenomenal…

"Open Door" is probably the saddest song they ever made... and I've got a soft spot for Man of our Times.
Conclusion - these documentaries are awesome. Thank you!

Like 2112, Dark Side of the Moon & Yes Drama, Duke is just one of those rare albums that are compelling start to finish. Few have come close

Great documentary. Fantastic mixes on the tracks here too. Such a superb album. Heathaze is such a gem. "The trees and I are shaken by the same wind but where as, the trees will lose their withered leaves I just can't seem to let them loose" is just stunning and absolutely capture the sense of not letting the past go.
To me it's an evening song where the working 9 to 5 world is shutting down and making plans for the evening but you're stuck in the routine. Stunning
