I was told by my old boss, "it's a good thing that both of your parents died on a weekend so you only had to take one day off to make arrangements. You're lucky i paid you for those days". This was outpatient MENTAL HEALTH!!!

I had worked for the company for almost 15 years and was fired because i had to go to the hospital twice for surgeries and was out without pay.

She called me at the hospital 2 days after my major (almost died) surgery. I thought she was checking on me. No, she wanted to know when i was coming back in because billing was behind.

The next time, my doctor admitted me to the hospital from his office. I called her to let her know. She said, no, you have to come 8n tomorrow. My Wonderful doctor got on the phone and asked her where she went to medical school!! 😂😂

I'm now in a great company that has generous paid time off and are very nice.

I worked for a company where an employee died because he couldnt get surgery in time during covid. He was off sick for a few weeks, near death, then didnt make it.

They couldnt find his company phone and didnt know where it was. Thinking it might be at his house they called the family days after the death and asked them if they could look around for the company phone and send it back to the company.

The family thought it was a condolence call. When they realized it was about a lost company phone they hung up.

When we had a close ex employee pass away, the company I worked for closed the warehouse for the day, got paid for our shift and were able to attend his funeral while our bosses took care of his funeral costs. Small businesses will always be better than big corrupt corporations.

My cousin died unexpectedly. His funeral was on a Sunday. His brother (so also my cousin), was expected to be back at work on Tuesday. He lived on the other side of the country and had to fly in for the funeral. He immediately quit his job. People are heartless!

My little brother passed away and my manager text me the next day and said "Do you still have family stuff going on?" I quit on the spot.

Years ago, I was up for a job at a local marketing company. Before the interview, the man who was to interview me said he was so impressed with my experience and he couldn't wait to interview me. When I got to the interview, he said to me point blank, "I don't think you're right for this position." What happened? Well, he took a look at me, and though I was dressed up, and looking polished and professional, I am not a hot babe. He was looking for office eye candy. Funny thing is, this dude was morbidly obese. Years later, this marketing agency went out of business. Good.

My job ceases to exist in my mind the moment I clock out.

My grandpa died when I was in my late teens. I worked at Walgreens at the time and the manager flat out said "I didn't approve your time off request because I don't believe your story about your grandpa." I just said "ok" but before clocking in to work I called my dad and told him. My dad showed up crying, barely keeping it together, he couldn't even speak actual words because it was HIS dad that had died. My manager had a completely shocked look on his face, he turned pale and started apologizing profusely to my dad and said I could "take the time you need." A-hole. Funny enough, all of my college professors were super understanding about it and didn't even want proof when I asked what they needed from me.

True story, my grandfather was on his deathbed from lung cancer and about 2 hours into my work day, I got a call from the hospital calling all of my family to get in "ASAP like, now" saying he had a few hours tops. Told my boss, was denied saying we didn't have enough coverage, so got the call an hour later he died. And I know, I should've just left but couldn't afford to be fired was struggling at the time as it was. Wish I did but did what I did. But yea, this vid made me remember that
