  In reality, the sun would go dimmer and cool down if you spun it up. You&apos;d reduce pressure on the core from the centrifuge effect throwing mass away from the core. At 50% break-up speed (only 50% because if the sun rotates too fast, it falls apart like we saw) the luminosity of the sun would drop something like 15%. It would also extend its life by another billion years or so. If you get absurd and push the sun to just before mass starts flying off at the equator, you get another 10% of dimming or so. Earth would be thrown into an ice age as a 15% drop in luminosity would bring it back to what it was 3 billion years ago or so.
