"The Lion in Winter" and "Long Day's Journey Into Night" are her best.

OMGosh ... even into her old age, she was just wonderful. Loved her in Rooster Cogburn with John Wayne, and On Golden Pond with Henry Fonda.<br>My absolute favorite movie quote of all time was from Kate in "Stage Door" ... <br>"The cala lilies are in bloom again ..."

Thank you for including “Stage Door,” which most people haven’t seen, but is a terrific, woman-centered, and witty film. Also features the great Eve Arden. The wisecracks alone are worth the effort to find it. <br><br>I love Hepburn and Cary Grant together. Another rarity is “Holiday,” again from the 1930s. Terrific supporting cast, too. <br><br>Omitting her Oscar-winning performance in The Lion in Winter borders on criminal. Words fail me.

My favorite is Stage Door—seen it at least 30 times—but the Lion in Winter has achieved legendary status. Script from a flop play: co-star who was notoriously unstable, a collection of others struggling for attention—and we were, nevertheless, left enthralled by something much greater than its parts.

This truly is one of the greatest films on many levels. It defines so much of what I aspire to in my life.

I don't disagree with any of these, especially if you add "Lion in Winter." But the truth is that for plain old enjoyment without having to do any heavy intellectual lifting, there will always be a special place in my heart for her comedies with Tracy, like "Pat and Mike" and "Woman of the Year."

“Bringing Up Baby.” With Cary Grant. A delightful “screwball comedy” from the 30s. Not just my favorite Hepburn film, one of my favorite movies.
