Why This Spanish Villa Was Sealed for Decades

The tunnels and the huge receptacles had me wondering. So I did a little research. AI states this: "Those huge clay receptacles in old Spanish underground tunnels were likely for winemaking (wine/sherry) or olive oil production, using enormous earthenware jars called tinajas, and getting them in involved building tunnels around them, lowering them carefully through shafts (or existing rooms) with ropes/pulleys before sealing, or crafting them in situ, all part of ancient cellar techniques."

Some gorgeous artifacts. Man, I so love watching these explorations, but I get nauseous when I think of these marvelous pieces just getting moldy and eventually destroyed! Sigh...

The entrance is called a vestibule... it blocks the cold or hot drafts of wind from entering the home.

Now that you know you will notice they are in banks, stores, and restaurants.

Good explorer Leslie, it never ceases to amaze me how these people have lived in decay for decades because it takes unbelievable amounts of money to Repair these kind of places.
Also, I think if you had left the water on a little longer, you would find it would run out you need electricity to run the pump to the storage pressure tank.

Hi Leslie and Luke, in the US we don't have clothes washers in the kitchen, the reason a lot of homes in Europe do is because the houses are old with thick walls, when indoor plumbing was put in, it was easier to run water in the one room, a lot of homes will have them in the bathrooms as well. What a beautiful home and again a shame it's left to mother nature. Thanks for sharing it. Love from N.Y.
