  Did this early. Got my writer’s membership with ASCAP in 2011 and started my publishing (Chad L. Music/Blue Ribbon Music) with them in 2016. I thought and acted quickly 😊

  Keep in mind that even though you don’t need an actual company for publishing there are limitations to how much publishing royalties you can get as an individual. Also if you start working with other artist and doing collaborations or helping anybody else, if you don’t have a company it can get pretty ugly at least an LLC can protect you for any type of dispute/lawsuit. &nbsp;You also get more benefits with organizations like HFA which mostly works with companies and negotiate any type of deals with record labels because they take you more serious once they see you having an LLC. It’s all about where you want your career if you’re not making that much money with your music yet then just collect on your own individually, but if you’re making an actual livable wage collecting royalties and you’re not having your own company, you’re probably losing a lot of attention of royalties because it means you’re producing an excessive amountthat you don’t have access to just yet. <br><br>That’s how I see it. If you’re making &nbsp;thousands of dollars regularly in royalties you’re probably losing a lot more by not incorporating and making deals and going out there as an actual company on your own behalf. It means you’re generating a substantial amount of streaming and usage worldwide and you need to tap into those additional sources.

  I&apos;m glad I found you. In prison I wrote several hundred songs. In February I bought my computer and my first DAW. I don&apos;t play an instrument, don&apos;t sing, but I&apos;m winging it. So far, I&apos;ve put 10 songs on my YouTube channel under the name dQb. From watching what happened to Taylor Swift, and Prince, I&apos;m Leary of record companies. But how do I put my music out there, get paid, etc. by the way, my sound sucks because, I&apos;m new to recording from scratch.

  Future did this with his publishing recently. He sold the composition of most of his works for 90 something million. &nbsp;Pretty dope you can do this.
