  This reminds me of the story of how the guy behind Star Trek added lyrics just so he could cash in the song lyric credits.<br><br>So it sounds like to me. Publishing is for the music source material itself. Like the rights to sell sheet music and song books.<br><br>So if a singer &amp; songwriter, writes a song, copyrights the song, then publishes a song, and finally records a master to the song. They will benefit much more greatly than someone who just takes a cash payout and a ham sandwich.

  makes sense, label has all the gear, studio, originally the big thing too was being able to press the discs etc...that is literally what they did, so they own it &nbsp;The musician can write it but if u don&apos;t also own all the studio....idk just saying it seems to make sense. like if u set up a big expensive studio, that was the goal, recording music. so...that is their business. lol it might not be ideal or very good but it is true. like who buys a car if there is no road?<br>Maybe we lose a link to the history, with the ease of access to technology now. But it used to be a big feat to put together all that tech. Like how RCA or NBC or CBS made a lot of money...some of them even had to make their own electronic components FIRST just to distribute that music!!! tubes and such

  A couple of additional notes on LLCs. Income and losses are considered &quot;pass-through&quot; and ends up on your personal 1040. So, if you&apos;re bumping up against some kind of eligibility cap based on income, it can be a thing. But because it&apos;s a legal entity, it can also help clarify what happens when closing out an estate.

  Bottom line if you want a fine meal you hire a chef. If you want to run a smooth musical enterprise find and hire a good attorney. Meanwhile your ears and fingers are set on making the next great hit (all you need is one...to go from ramen to burritos or good pizza✌️😝)<br>Im just messing.
