  I&apos;ve been texting back and forth for 2 months with a isaan lady who lives in northwestern, Bangkok. She&apos;s a teacher and has a 9-year-old daughter. For most of the 2 months. It was just usual chit chat but it got kind of intense recently. And I started really thinking that maybe I really did want a relationship with the woman like this. She&apos;s a good looking lady, nothing special really but I liked her and when we did a video chat for 2 hours I really liked her. Unfortunately Right after when I made arrangements to come back end of May on a 60-day tourist visa converting it to a o retirement. When I&apos;m there, then she start ed pushing about money. Not asking for specific money but asking if I was prepared to support her and her child. Before she would even agree to a date. Now I already had been making plans inside my head for how I would rearrange my finances, and even thinking of getting a bigger condo with two bedrooms or even renting a house. But I didn&apos;t expect her to ask. At least not before. She had snagged me in the spider web. So I told her no. I would not be prepared to support her and her child. That we would have to meet first and see. I told her that&apos;s what dating was all about. This was actually last night. I slept on it and woke up this morning and texted her and saying thanks for the conversation but I&apos;m going to pass. She was surprised they didn&apos;t know why I was saying that. I told her it could just be a cultural difference or communication thing but I&apos;m getting the feeling that I&apos;m getting set up to be used and I don&apos;t like that feeling. I told her I got a couple of friends that work in the bars and at least with that approach I know what I&apos;m paying and that at the end of it I get to go home in peace. It&apos;s too bad too because I really could see myself with her and it could have been fun. Not that I&apos;m looking for a marriage cuz I&apos;m not but some kind of arrangement would have been fine. <br>So hopefully I dodged a bullet. I did tell her I&apos;m still coming and I&apos;ll be there in June. So, if you want to have lunch I&apos;m good with that. In the meantime, loved your video. I learn a lot and I&apos;m not sure if I would have recognized this without some of your hard-earned wisdom. <br>Thanks!.

  I know about the GIK culture and where I am at, it is not as prevalent. &nbsp;Here in the village, everyone knows everyone&apos;s business and everyone will know if it is going on. Maybe it happens but they must be super secure on how they do it.

  Well crap. I could have used this advice 6 years earlier. My Thai girlfriend recently took a &quot;girls trip&quot; to Koh Samui and was acting a little odd. During the trip, her friends posted pics to Facebook that my GF knew I would not like. Now I see that she was likely looking for short-time love. I did not know about this part of Thai culture until today.

  Hi Robb. Not a =huge deal but if you ever find your backgrounds are too bright and want a little light on yourself just take a directional lamp and point it at the wall in front of you ( light coloured wall or a sheet). Bouncing light is a great way to light peoples faces. .....from a lighting guy in TV. lol.

  I have noticed some of this culture living with my Thai wife in her village by Mukdahan . But it doesn’t seem to be very open. May just be the area we are in.

  If marital fidelity is not the cultural expectation, is certainty of paternity also not a concern?

  Well done Robb. The 1935 King Rama decree about no more multiple wives ...Thai men never got the memo😅<br>My Flipina wife told me in her rural village &nbsp;there was an apartment for &quot; girlfriends &quot; of married men. Side flops.<br>So even gossip had no effect. &nbsp;Money talked . As it always does. $500 pesos a day doesn&apos;t cut it anymore. &nbsp;Girls wants the finer things in life.

  I just cannot imagine this is going on to the extent that they claim. and even among females? they are still normal females. how can it be?!?
