  Really excited about this episode. We converted to Catholicism because of our infertility and being told IVF was our only option. We were both raised in the Protestant church.  When studying the theology behind fertility treatments, birth control, & IVF, we were constantly led to Catholic teaching that made so much sense. Praise be to God we were confirmed three years ago and now are expecting our miracle son after 7 years of waiting on Gods timing. He who began a good work will carry it to completion.

  I was told that due to my second child’s rare and crippling genetic abnormality, I needed to use IVF and genetic testing if I ever wanted another baby. My husband and I were initially like, okay, I guess that’s what we need to do. The whole concept and choosing the “best eggs” never sat well with me as a mom to a medically complex child. What does that say about her and her value? Then I had a dear friend (Catholic)  very lovingly share what the Church teaches about IVF even though I was not Catholic at the time. It was eye opening for me and when I discussed it with my husband we realized we could not go through with it morally. A year later I found myself in the back of a Catholic Mass on a random weekday, praying in the fashion of Jesus desperate prayer in the garden, “Lord, if you’re willing, please heal my womb. If you are not willing, please give me the grace to bear it.” Then I prayed to Mary as a Protestant who wasn’t sure if that’s okay lol. “Mary, please pray for the healing of my womb, but only if your Son is willing. If He is not, please sit with me in my grief.” One month later, a few days after lent started, I found out I was  pregnant with my very healthy son. The only boy to carry on my husband’s family name. From that God redeemed so many broken things in our extended family. I joined the Church a few months later. My husband and children were baptized and brought into the church a year and a half later. I’m pregnant again with a healthy baby girl. Grace upon Grace, I am so unworthy. God has been so kind.

  Wonderful episode. I was conceived via IVF. My dad converted to Catholicism a few years ago and repented of using IVF. I also became Catholic after 26 years as a Protestant. My twin sister is my best friend and I am so grateful we have life, but I can still say IVF is morally wrong.

  I had a rare uterine condition- a bicornate horned uterus. Prior to becoming Catholic, my ex and I contemplated surrogacy. He wanted his own kids. I didn’t mind adoption. Ever since I was little, I thought adoption was a beautiful thing. Well, we broke up as a result of my infertility after we started exploring Catholicism. I received my sacraments Easter 2024, and I am so grateful we never went this route of IVF and surrogacy. Now I’ve found someone who loves me for me, has a daughter, and is also open to adoption. God is good! And it is in living in the confines of the Church that I am more joyful, freer, and feel a stronger connection to the Blessed Mother. I have a statue of a pregnant Mary, and this has brought me so much peace in my journey. More people need to learn the truth of this industry.

  As an evangelical Christian, scientist, and doctor, I’ve argued against IVF for the past three decades - from a biblical and an ethical perspective.  But folks get consumed by their desire to have a child and that is so hard to break through.  Thank you for all your work in this arena and praying that more will hear this message.

  Thank you for this video! My husband and I have been unable to conceive. It hurts, but I refuse to do so immorally. Nobody is owed children, no matter how badly they may want them.

  As an infant adoptee THANK YOU for acknowledging the trauma in infant adoption. I am so happy pro lifers are finally acknowledging this. Adoption is complex and while it’s often making the best of a sad situation, it is still traumatic for the baby and biological mother ❤

  IVF episodes are really hard for us, as our only son was convinced through IVF and we only converted to Catholicism a couple of years after that. We forced a more ethical way in our journey (no genetic testing, no embryos "discarded", etc), but we now understand the issues quiet well.

  If you truly believe a child is a gift, you will allow a child to be that… a gift. You can’t gift something to yourself, a gift is to be given.
