Private equity. There will be no wealth transfer. They will use up their inheritance in nursing homes or reverse mortgages

Im really proud of my parents. True boomers - both are 74. They listed their house with a decent agent, saw the local comps, and could see there was a ton hitting the market. They were serious about selling and said they would meet the market. They had a lot of interest, but only two offers both significantly under what they would have gotten a few years ago. Without negotiation, they accepted the first offer. My dad said they have made more than their fair share and didn't see the need to negotiate or rage delist. House went to a young family, my parents were thrilled. They bought a nice bottle of champage for the new owners and a few of their favorite childrens books for the ew owners' kids to enjoy in their new home. Offer- sold- done. This is the way to do it boomers.

If you are young family, you need a house now , not in 20 years when kids are out😢

The oldest boomers turn 80 this year. The average age of death in the U.S. is 79. Each year, going forward, there will be more and more older homes on the market.

I keep wondering if there will be suburban ghost towns in the next century.

I’m currently living in my childhood home. Suburbs of Chicago. Parents bought this house in 1975 for 76K. 1908 Queen Anne. Beautiful old home. Needs constant maintenance and work. Dad passed in 2014. Mom still owns the home. I’m the 4th of 5 kids.

I can’t afford to buy this house based on current market. Neighbors house just sold for 1.2 million. There is a bit of a war amongst some of my siblings on what happens with the home when mom passes.

My wife and I I were burned in 2009 when the housing market crashed and home went upside down. We tried to stick it out and do the right thing, but we had little kids that we needed to get into better schools.

Bottom line, as. 50+ year old Gen X the housing market has not been kind. It’s way over priced for what American families need to be successful. I hope you are right. We need the middle class to be revived and get families back in homes that don’t require two incomes. Rebuild America through family values again. I

Also, in today's world, the quality of not only houses, but automobiles as well, are total crap in regards to quality.
