Criminally underrated. I wish he could've done more against Liston.

So glad someone did a longer video on Floyd Patterson. He’s definitely my favorite boxer of all time. Super exciting and had more heart than almost any fighter!

This is so cool. Instead of using his legs to get low and roll like Tyson did, he used his back. Leaned in while using the same pendulum head movement, staying just outside their range. Then he used a split step to dart inside or switch stances (or both) and unloaded his ridiculously fast same-hand combos. What a badass this guy was. I want to box more like this.

The losses and draw with Quarry and Ellis are on paper only. Every boxing fan who saw those fights thought Floyd was robbed.  Floyd wouldn't have been able with a prime Williams or a strong up coming Joe. I was pleased and surprised at his late career wins over Bonavena and Chuvalo.

Its awesome how Patterson KO'ed Tom McNeely as the first peek-a-boo practitioner and Mike Thyson KO'ed Peter McNeely as the 2nd peek-a-boo practitioner 😮😮

I'm writing this on my girlfriend's computer, I've always had a thing about Floyd Patterson since I read a book with quotes from Patterson about the fear of getting in the ring, genuine fear of getting hurt and giving hurt. Much more than just your comments was seeing, in confirmation of what I'd read, that while he was ultra respectful to everyone in the fight game, his immediate response to his defeated opponent was his paramount concern, even when mistimed or not appropriate, was that it was about THEM, the only two people that counted. my dad took me and my brother to boxing school in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, Lancashire, where I first heard about the " Battle of Bamber Bridge" decades ago, and how the manners and politeness of the GI's who were black had contrasted with the "loud" white GI's. I was thinking of that every time Patterson went straight to his defeated opponents. You showed so much respect to Mr Patterson, that I'd love to see you do more on this brilliant Boxer and Human Being.

Boxing is such a great sport but a ruthless one. It can help one grow as a person ,  help them with self confidence , and help one get into shape to stay healthy but at the same time it can kill you. Also to me boxing strategy is something very great to see. If you are a great fighter and keep improving with a great teacher or head trainer like in the case with a young Floyd Patterson and Cuz D'Amato you can rise up to become a great champion but then you have to deal with every other contender in your weight class gunning for you. They are preparing to give their very best against you and they will study every aspect of your style trying to avoid your strengths and exploit your weaknesses.  Over time though a great champion can lose focus especially after becoming a champion with a handful of successful title defenses. I think this may have been the case with Floyd Patterson with his loss to Joahanssen. But it takes an even greater champion to take that loss and become champion again by going back into the gym back to the drawing board as they say to re-strategize with another game plan and defeat the one who beat you in that ring. Boxing is a physical sport no doubt but it also a very mental game.

When Floyd put Ingemar Johansson down in round 5 of his 1960 rematch, that shock all, including Ingy.
