  EDIT: Okay, we&apos;re already updating the pinned comment cos you guys are NOT LISTENING. PLEASE stop defending your special hotties, you literally do not need to do that. My point for showing folks like Silco and Mahito was NOT to say &quot;they are ugly&quot; because I literally said that wasn&apos;t the point. From a comparative standpoint, Silco, a consistent antagonistic force that gets in the way of the sisterly bond of Vi and Jinx and harms the undercity under the guise of helping it, and Mahito, who I don&apos;t need to explain why I classify him as a freak, are not as conventionally attractive as the less scarred up Vi or Vander or the flawless-skinned ethereal-eyed Gojo. THAT was my point. I thought that I was very clear in this not only from the note I made at the start of the section but also my note that I think several traditionally &quot;ugly&quot; Disney villains are super hot. My issue is, again, conflating scars, deformity, and differences as something spooky or evil or whatever, which Silco and Mahito both absolutely do.<br><br>ALSO, STEVEN UNIVERSE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!!<br><br>For everyone trying to defend the handling of the Diamonds, you were ALSO not listening, lol. Yes, Sugar was rushed (which I acknowledge), and yes, things were a lil better in the Movie and Future. Is that a full redemption in the classic sense? No, definitely not, and my wording could have been less mushy there. My point, however, was that NO LEVEL OF FORGIVENESS makes sense. To quote myself, &quot;the quality of the attempt doesn&apos;t matter because, oh my god, they are fascist intergalactic dictators&quot;. I&apos;m not gonna act like Steven should&apos;ve shattered them or anything like that, especially since he needed them to heal corrupted gems, but all three were still in positions of power and all three were allowed to wander freely. No leashes, it seems. Considering the extent of their crimes, specifically related to abusing their power, that&apos;s just laughably lax of a reaction, and it makes absolutely no sense coming from a team of people who were SO hurt by the Diamonds, including DIRECTLY. Even IF we focus on the allegory aspect (which, if the narrative behind an allegory sucks, you can still criticize the narrative, like something being an allegory doesn&apos;t absolve any other writing problems lmao), I think it&apos;s rather irresponsible messaging to tell kids it&apos;s their job to try and convince shitty authority figures who have been shitty their whole lives to change, and that it can work, and I say this as a kid with experience in that area. Not once did I say you can&apos;t like Steven Universe, or even that I hate it. I just don&apos;t like some parts, including the Diamonds. You are more than welcome to think that it was fine, and you are more than welcome to open that discussion and explain your perspective, but scolding me for misinterpreting, spreading misinformation, or being disingenuous is just goofy as hell. <br><br>Fair warning: these sprites are subject to tweaks and I have a LOT of sketches of other ones still yet to be completed. I was happy with them until I started working on them and noticed how many tiny things were wonky as they switch from one to the other, so you might be aware of some slight changes from video to video for the foreseeable future until I&apos;m happy. You are NOT going insane. :)

  When I hear ‘Ugly bad guy, pretty hero’, I immediately think of Megamind, which that’s basically what the whole movie is about- but I think it’s done in a good way

  I hate “canonically unattractive”characters that’s aren’t even remotely unattractive. People are so afraid of ugly characters, and the whole “you’re beautiful on the inside” arc doesn’t make sense if they’re already beautiful

  The killing off of minor character trope is SO APPLICABLE with Stranger Things. They always introduce a new quirky character every season and kill them off, while the main cast survives LITERALLY ANYTHING. Like you want me to believe there’s danger in this universe when you always save the mcs

  zombie apocalypse solution - there is an apocalypse. there is ALSO zombies. the zombies did not cause the apocalypse, theyre just a bi-product.

  One pet peeve in character design I have is when a character is meant to be a hybrid (half human, half non human organism) but the character is 100% human and have no non human abilities or features to show us that they are, other than having the character explicitly say they&apos;re a hybrid.

  If you want to make a villain &quot;ugly&quot; peel off their skin, give them anatomy that shouldn&apos;t be physically possible, make viewers feel sick when they walk on screen. Your villain will now live in people&apos;s nightmares for the next few years
