  Apparently, "the marvelous city" is a known nickname for Rio in Brazil, so yes, the dialogue is all just translated directly from Portuguese with no thought about if it makes sense to non Brazilian audiences.

  Just one thing, marvelous city (in Portuguese, cidade maravilhosa) is a nickname for Rio de Janeiro. That's why he doesn't explicitly say Rio, but Brazilians can tell by the nickname. (It's basically like "The big apple" and NYC)

  I watched Ratatoing recently, and the homosexual relationship between Marcel and the cat was not mentioned in this video. Marcel literally flirts with the cat in order to get the cat to team up with him.
