I'm a major civil war buff and this stuff helps me understand what I've read so much better.

One thing I like about this channel other than the great content is they are going in the timeline as it happens. Other history channels would be jumping all over.

I would argue this video's biggest take away is that everyone comes into a battle with a grand strategic vision but will often have it crushed in the face of piss poor communication. Pope was basically screaming into darkness the whole battle and Stonewall is plagued by similar issues the first day.

The image in my avatar is my g-g-grandfather who served in the 60th Georgia Infantry of Lawton's Georgia Brigade, Ewell's Division. He was killed August 27 during the Battle of Kettle Run/Bristoe Station during a rearguard engagement with Hooker's pursuing division. His brothers were engaged at Brawner's Farm and Second Manassas in the days after. Those boys had just marched around 54 miles in less than two days and went straight into several days of hard-fought battle.

1:25:00 Captain Kern staring down four divisions after having been abandoned by his retreating men and support and deciding that he'll get a canister in those rebels even if it's the last thing he does is truly legendary bravery.

Wow, I have never viewed any video on any battle of any war, prior to this, that has given as much of a detailed breakdown of the events that occurred during the battle. Excellent work.

Thank you very much for this fantastic series. I live very near the Manassas Battlefield, and much of the area north and west of the Second Manassas battlefield (which I want to stress is privately owned) is being considered for rezoning for the so-called Pageland Lane Digital Gateway. The First Battle's hallowed ground gets most of the attention in the park and within the public consciousness, so videos like this which clearly delineate the movements during Second Manassas really help to frame the potential impact of such a construction. Well done.

That is such a cool concept! Putting the photos of the army commanders onto their individual corp!🤯
