Since I retired. I have tried as many hen working. To add 10% every year. But I understand it could be a problem advertising how much members is giving. Thank you pastors, for your position on giving. 💯🙏✝️

A distinctly Lutheran way is to understate things. "You've surpassed my exceedingly low expectations" is a perfect example. Often people will give the great lutheran compliment to our choir, "I've heard worse." To which we enthusiastically respond, "THANK YOU!"<br><br>😂😂😂

My mother told me that since my father was paid his salary once a month, she would give the bulk of their offering on the Sunday after payday, but then give a smaller amount each Sunday thereafter. She did this because my father was the pastor of the congregation and she did not want anyone in the congregation to think that the pastor and his family were not giving to support the ministry of the congregation. Only the treasurer knew what she was doing.<br><br>I have no doubt that my parents tithed. We never went hungry and we never lacked clothing.

My wife's LCMS parish in Wisconsin used to publish in the annual report an exact list of every member and how much they gave. No longer, thank God.

We only track offerings because of the tax benefits offered by the government. That list is kept private.

😂passed exceedingly low expectations 😂😂<br>I love it. I've been pulling on wrenches and burning holes in clothes (mechanic and welder) since 1980 and in my own shop since 1986. And it seems that every day I just promote myself from one level of incompetence to the next😂😂

Is there a link for the Cheerful 10?

There’s an evangelical church near me that actually has each row march forward in turn and make their donations in front of everyone. Not surprisingly, it’s one of those churches that actually requires proof that you are giving a minimum of 10% of your income to the church, as stated in the membership contract.

Bryan mentioned “…a percentage of your net income…”. <br><br>Wouldn’t “First Fruits Giving” imply that you give a percentage of your gross (before tax) income?

I don't think anyone should know what you give. It mostly leads to judging others , and those who give very generous gifts are sometimes treated with favor. Plus, getting a refund from the government is ridiculous.... I'm giving to the Lord, and now I'm getting part of my offering back from the government.
