  This is probably the closest description of a true apocalypse. No Mad Max leather punk or Fallout gangs. Just bleakness that never ends and possibly a slowly fading humanity.

  The Road seems like the only TV or movie series that shows an actual post apocalyptic Earth. Everyone is dirty, malnourished, tired, there are very few people around, there is no electricity, no running water, etc. This is the kind of movie that stays with you.

  I was a brand new father, my boy was about 6-8 months old when I picked up this book and read it in almost a single sitting (I read fast and it’s not a lengthy book). <br><br>Right around 2AM, I closed the book and walked to my son’s room, I just watched him sleep the sleep of the innocent until sunrise. <br><br>That book changed me.

  Man, this book made me bawl. I first read it as a father in my late 30s and all I could think of is how much I need to prepare my child for when I can&apos;t be there for them any more.
