  As much as I loved him, so many signs were telling him not to go. But he did anyway. I can&apos;t wrap my head around the fact that maybe he was too confident, or missed a critical detail. Poor souls. Rest in peace all of you.

  I JUST watched 14 Peaks yesterday and looked him up afterwards. Was shocked that he died ONE week ago! So sad 😢

  He knew the risks. When you&apos;re climbing all the time, your odds get very unfavorable. RIP climber.

  RIP to everyone involved. It especially breaks my heart when Sherpas are involved in accidents because I don&apos;t think they get the final say in whether they climb or not... I really hope that their families are looked after :(

  Nims is what you get when you combine genetics of a Nepali, the grit and determination of a Ghurka and the resilience of an SBS operative. A true specimen of a man and it&apos;s sad to see him go.

  There were two legendary Polish climbers Wojtek Kurtyka and Jerzy Kukuczka. They were like two opposites of eachother. Kurtyka (still alive, well over 70 years old) split from Jurek because he thought that the avalanche risk on the legendary Shining Wall (Gasherbrum IV) was too high. Kukuczka dismissed his objections. Soon, he died after taking way to many risks. None of the partners of Kurtyka ever got even injured. This was the man, who eventually did the Shining Wall with Robert Schauer, in full alpine style, no fixed ropes etc, which till this day is one of the most renowned routes. But the key thing is, he always was so much against &quot;The Chariot of the rats&quot;, the pursuit of the &quot;number&quot;, the publicity etc. This was something that Kukuczka also sought to an extent. Kurtyka remained the eccentric fellow he always was. Still have his great book &quot;Chinese Maharaja&quot;, that he simply refused to reprint, because probably he thought it would be a vanity from his side and the book is like 20x more expensive now and a rare item (BTW the book is about free soloing a 7c+ route, where his highest grade was 8a/8a+. While being like 46 or something :) ) My point is, I think those people got lost in their mountain journey long before the accident and it was really sad to watch their downfall leading to the accident...
