  I graduated from High School in 1972. I had an &quot;air force&quot; of well over 100 1/72 scale models of WWII aircraft from as many countries I could collect together. I devoured books on the role of aircraft in WWII and books on the camouflage schemes used in the various theaters as well. (for building the planes &quot;accurately&quot;)<br><br>Why do I bring this up? well, I had open heart surgery (11 hours on the operating table) about 3 years ago and watching your videos on my tablet during my recovery period was a life saver. But more than that, In spite of my interest and study of the subject back in the early 70&apos;s, you opened my mind (and interest) down to a level of detail &nbsp;that makes the former me look downright ignorant on the subject. <br><br>You have a lot of competition now, but yours are still my absolute favorite videos on the subject, not least because of the way you present the information. Thank you! And if you ever find yourself anywhere near rural Kentucky, get your butt down here and I&apos;ll take you through bourbon country. My wife and I moved here from Seattle about15 years ago and it was a life changer. Two of my adult children follwed in the last five years...<br><br>Keep up the good work, kid! 😁<br><br>BTW, in case you&apos;re wondering, the operation was an amazing success. In a few months I was back out felling trees and cutting firewood in my woods (32 acres of woods, trails and lawns that I now maintain).

  One quick minor note on the name. &quot;Uhu&quot; doesn&apos;t mean owl in German, it is specifically the word for the Eurasian Eagle-Owl. The German word for owl is Eule.

  Pokryshkin, one of two Soviet Union&apos;s most famous fighter aces, said in his autobiography that shooting down these planes was really hard due to their high maneuverability, low speed and, as far as I remember, their &quot;distributed&quot; aiframe, being a set of small targets. He said how the plane he was fighting faked being shot down a couple of times, falling down rapidly and then recovering at low altitude.

  The Fw 189 also plays an important role in the legendary (and gut-wrenching) anti-war film &quot;Come and see&quot;. The protagonist sees it flying overhead several times, always resulting in a terrible attack by artillery etc., but he can&apos;t do anything against it. Quite symbolic.

  Of course it was excellent. It&apos;s a Kurt Tank design. He&apos;s one of the greatest aircraft designers of all time.
