We still eat a lot of jacket potatoes, it's still a cheap, filling, hot meal.

Watching AIs hold hot potatoes with butter melting all over their hands is somewhat entertaining.

Interestingly, most of the victims of Jack the ripper ate potatoes as part of their last meal, proving beyond a doubt what a common working class meal this was.

The part about the people eating the potato jackets after work, especially in the winter, reminded me a little of when I worked in Manhattan, NYC, in the 1970s. While on the way to our respective subway trains, to go home, my colleagues and I would often stop at food stalls and shops in the subway station, to buy something to nosh on during the ride home<br>. We would have warm knishes, soft pretzels, sometimes hot dogs, specialty foods, etc. There were also sweet novelty snacks and beverages. It helped us make it home when we could finally eat a real dinner after a long day at work. Not quite the same as the video, but these nice memories came to me.

They wouldn't have butter on the potatoes or bread. It was too expensive for most. It's not pea pudding it's peas pudding!
