  For those unfamiliar with megohmeters, they apply a test voltage to the probes and measure leakage at high voltage, rather than the way a typical ohmmeter measures resistance. &nbsp;Be aware that the meter is actually generating 500v and putting it on those probes. &nbsp;Alex is comfortable with his and he moves easily around it, but the tester itself can shock you pretty hard. &nbsp;That&apos;s why there&apos;s a lightning bolt icon displayed on the meter any time &gt;30 AC RMS or 60vdc is on the probes. &nbsp;When he&apos;s using it, watch the voltage displayed at the lower right.<br><br>My 1507 has a larger finger guard on the probes than Alex&apos;s Klein, and I like how it makes me keep my fingers behind the probe tip.

  I appreciate the information. I too have been an ice mechanic and interested in learning more on ev’s. I do have a lot of experience with hybrid vehicles.

  Although I will never do this kind of work, i definitely appreciate a puzzle and solving problems. Seeing what it takes to diagnose and repair EVs could be useful when talking to a mechanic if my EV is ever in need of repair.

  Love this video! I re-powered (new cells) a Fiat 500e and now have loss of isolation in the battery pack. Will have to chase it down....
