  I went through the big land train at the Yuma County fair in 62 or 63 it was on display during its time on the desert proving grounds. It was a hell of a machine

  Excellent presentation, @ConstructionLegends—both informative and interesting.<br><br>Personally, I would not hesitate to climb into the crew cab knowing that it was powered by a nuclear reactor. I became convinced a long time ago that the men who lived and operated the DEW Line and the “Pinetree Line,” helping defend North America against a potential Soviet attack, were a different cut of cloth.<br><br>I can remember conducting “duck and cover” drills in school and knowing where the nearest Civil Defense shelters were located in our community. My father, who was our chief of police, was instrumental in organizing a volunteer Civil Defense force in our community. Like so many others of that generation, the members were World War II veterans who understood the realities of war and the importance of being prepared.<br><br>They were ordinary citizens who worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to protect their families and their communities during a very uncertain period in our history.<br><br>Thank you, @ConstructionLegends, for posting this excellent presentation.
