When you have the enemy by the throat, you do not let go.

German success in France was mostly the result of stupidity and incompetence of the Allies, especially France. Indeed, 2 yrs earlier France had war games that included the Germans moving through the Ardennes. The French Colonel that led the red team aka 'German/enemy' forces ended up at Sedan and crossed the Meuse at exactly the same spot that Germans did in 1940. Moreover, the same French officer reminded the French command of his success during the earlier war games and during the phoney war period of winter 1939/40 he recommended they anticipate and defend against a push straight to the Meuse...just like he had previously war gamed. He was ignored.

People forget Dunkirk is a historic border town. It has forts and moats. The terrain is marshy. At the end of May, the weakened mobile divisions would take well over a week to capture the town.
The "Dunkirk disaster" scenario is unfeasible.

Might be worth also considering the extensive use of Methamphetamines called "Pervitin" that kept them going at high speed across Belgium but after 72 hours they would be crashing.

This was a remarkably good retelling of the campaign around the Dunkirk evacuation - far better than much of the WW2 military history content on YouTube. I was very impressed that all of your footage was either of the campaign was authentic, or at the very least, plausible, in its portrayal of the leaders, formations and areas discussed. This is uncommon in many WW2 videos!
Many good points have been raised both in the video and in previous comments. My only small addition was that the Wehrmacht were heavily influenced in the halt decision by their military cartography indicating that the topography and surficial geology were unsuitable for Panzer operations. I was pleased to see this fact reflected in what was described in the video.

Extremely good video. IN my mind the biggest mistake ever made by the west was Brittain and France declaring war on Germany which was on its way to start the invasion to Russia, the main enemy to the west then and since WW2. That cost the Germans so much in man and vehicle power that they never recovered although they finally got stopped by the Russians at the Kreml gates. The west should have let the germans do their thing to the Russians and they could always have begun a war on Germany if they felt the need to do so. I believe that Russia be westernized today and Naziism what never have been long lived.

Since the French were still at war, they sent those French soldiers back to France where many were killed in battle or captured. A few (3,000) stayed in England under De Galle. There were other evacuations after Dunkirk, saving another hundred thousand (maybe more then at Dunkirk) British. Operation Aerial.

I still believe AH let the British expeditionary forces get away. AH really wanted peace with Britain so he could turn east on a single front war. Just imagine if Britain and Germany became allies yesterday Russia wouldn’t be threatening the destroy the earth every damn day…
