This is my village too. Sadly, I'm the youngest and I'm nearly 57. Lots of nearby villages, the foreigners are the younger ones. Good on you for showing everybody the harsh reality of rural Japan

I like Jan; he is so open-minded, unbiased, friendly, and genuinely interested in everything. He soaks everything up. No Work is beneath him or outside the scope of his interests. You can really see and sense it.

I wish you the best of luck and success on your journey. Stay just as you are and inspire others with that spirit of yours. Germany has lost a good man, but Japan has gained one.

Everyone should listen carefully to the advice of experienced people like him, rather than relying on AI.

And your understanding of Japanese, especially the Ibaraki dialect, is amazing!😊

I think my main takeaway from this video is I need to do my part to support the Japanese Sake and Brewery companies

This also is happening in rural America. It is sad to see the young people leave agriculture for the big cities. What a great gentleman, thank you for sharing his story.

He has such a deep understanding of life. Failures are not a bad thing. You learn from your failures. Such an optimistic spirit!

what stayed with me most is how nobufusa‑san carries the weight of everything that’s vanished without becoming bitter — his steadiness shows that even when a place fades, the spirit of someone who kept it alive doesn’t disappear.

Thanks for sharing Nobufusa-sans story with us. It’s saddening to see how his community and so many others, which were built on helping each other out, are slowly disappearing. It’s amazing to see how healthy and positive he is!

Soba in the USA is buckwheat, it was popular with families in times past but now is used primarily in food plots to attract and feed deer for hunting and as a cover crop to put nitrogen in the soil planted after other crops and plowed under with out harvest, It also flowers right up to freeze so some bee keepers plant it to keep their bees fed over winter.

Any plans to start a small hospitality ''company'' and tours around that area ?? Damn would be so nice to spend 1 or 2 months doing agricultural job in that village 🤩🤩 just need three meals, a room with a bed and a shower !! Perfect vacation for a tired European worker 😆😆
