  FFVI is powerful because there’s no real victory: Kefka permanently damages the world, the Espers go extinct, and magic disappears. Terra doesn’t “heal” or fix this, she survives by accepting loss and choosing to remain human. Her resilience isn’t flashy heroism, but quiet acceptance, which can feel close to madness. That realism is what makes the story hit harder with age.

  Oh, this is exactly the kind of question that keeps me up at night 😄<br><br>Honestly? Kefka wasn’t the real failure… the system around him was. In FFVI, Kefka is what happens when absolute power gets handed to someone who was already broken without ethical guardrails, accountability, or emotional containment. He’s less “mastermind villain” and more a catastrophic byproduct of unchecked ambition and bad science.<br><br>The Empire saw him as a useful tool, ignored the warning signs (you know, the laughing, the nihilism, the casual poisoning of entire castles…), and kept escalating his authority. No limits, no failsafes, no moral oversight. Kefka didn’t break the world alone, the world basically handed him the keys and said, “What’s the worst that could happen?”<br><br>So yeah, Kefka pulled the trigger. But the real tragedy (and the real failure) was a system that confused power with control and thought it could weaponize madness without consequences. Classic JRPG lesson, honestly. And painfully relevant.

  After watching i want to mention something here that nobody ever talks about. Thats a huge point.<br>Videos like this point a lot to power being bad. <br>Theres a lot of talk about kefka seeking power.<br>But nothing is said of what beat him. Because what beat him was an even greater power. Beating even the warring triad for the same reasons. They all seek to destroy, or control. The only way they were beaten was for a force that wants to grow, without control, or restraint, to develop. The heroes of this story all seek power as well. But they seek it in each other. Looking for whats hidden and allowing it to flourish. If your going by kefkas logic, that results are all that matter, power is just potential.
