  Hearing Simon say "Little Homie" and "Big Homie" is absolutely everything.  I needed this on a cold Thursday morning.  The only thing that would have made it better would be to have seen Simon demonstrating a Crip Walk in his Vessies

  I have to admit… This one touch HOME!!! I used to be a “52 Blackstone Blood! (5 for the 5 pointed star and 2 for the letter B!) And what you said is totally true! There’s a lot of disenfranchised black males out there who were looking for somewhere to belong. And THATS where “gangs” started. Both Crips and Bloods started as community action groups. We (and I mean both sides) had ZERO accountability or leadership. It boiled down to the money!!! Hell the only reason I dropped a red flag in my back pocket was I could make money selling crack! I LIVED the life you talked about! I remember the truce that happened right before Rodney! And I say all of this to say that I THANK GOD that I lived through it all! I could’ve died SOO many times!   I wanna emphasize more that part of the solution to gang violence is giving kids more stuff to do. not letting funding for after school activities be ripped away. there’s so many stories of people talking about how if they didn’t have activities that let them create or play sports they would’ve gone down the route of ending up in a gang
