16:48
So let's be real here, if ants were the size of a medium sized dog, you'd too wanna stay clear of them.. not because if their looks but because they send these radio signals that signal the rest of the colony, so I think the black widow has the same reasoning

This was kinda painful to watch. Dude clearly knows nothing about animals to think it was funny or weird that a black widow would be scared shitless to be on the ground with ants around it. It's a cobweb spider, so on the ground it's basically helpless. It's like throwing a lion into a pool full of sharks and wondering why it's not tearing them apart. A widow can't "fight", it's not built for that. And it has a very limited amount of venom, which is why it will often give a dry bite when threatened. It couldn't kill 10 ants, much less 1,000.

Before watching the video, I know enough about ants to not underestimate them against other bugs.
Fun fact: Most spiders will flee when given a fight or flight response. Despite how deadly they are, even the most venomous spiders try to run away before actually biting and sometimes those bites are dry unless they feel very threatened since venom is how they need to eat and it's not an unlimited supply. A black widow even versus a small number of ants is unfair to it let alone putting it inside the entire colony. Ants are expert scavengers and they're much more aggressive then other insects in general. Any spider no matter how big or venomous stands no chance. Actually even tarantula's can be killed by just a few stray ants in its containment habitat which is why pet keepers are very aware of maintaining and cleaning their environment.

1:02 No. First of all, of all the ants you gather, chances are, none of them will be a queen, meaning those ants will all die off very quickly with none to replace them. Second, those ants will probably all be from different colonies and that many from that many different colonies that close together will probably panic and fight each other and die even quicker. And finally, by buying an ant colony, you can be a bit more certain that the ants don't have any diseases or parasites.

5:45 Also remember that anteaters are a thing
