Peter Gabriel's voice is just so fantastic and remains so even to this day. So much character and able to convey so much emotion. He is a remarkable artist.

Genesis came first... but Neil Peart called Collins drumming on this album one of his chief influences as a progressive drummer, called Collins playing on the album the "enduring masterpiece of rock drumming", called the album and the tour "galvanizing" and life changing.

Gabriel-era Genesis is in top 5 bands for me. The Selling England, Lamb and Foxtrot cassettes turned so much in my house growing up, until replaced by CDs. My dad was a BIG Genesis, Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd fan and it formed my early musical ear. Great, great song by one of the GOAT band! Thanks Chris!
Edit: Seeing you smile throughout the piece and rushing to commentate every part that captivated you, I saw myself the first time I heard this song!
Edit 2: Can you believe these guys were in their early 20s when this album was released? Crazy, crazy talented!

Tony Banks wrote the vast majority of this song, including the piano parts and the melody for flute and guitar solos. He was classically trained, as you can tell.

This entire album is amazing…peak prog with Peter Gabriel on lead vocals/flute, Phil Collins on drums/harmonies, Tony Banks on keys, Steve Hackett on lead guitar and Mike Rutherford on bass/acoustic/rhythm guitar.

probably one of the greatest piano openings in rock history. When The Musical Box performs this song, the intro gets a huge ovation.....
