The fellas behind the movie are the OG RPG youtubers. The whole "The shadow!?" bit and "I attack the darkness" are references to their previous works. In fact, they recently released a mockumentary called "I attack the darknes"

Because those who own the rights are so ignorant and hateful, they managed to get the actual rights to make the movie and just make it a parody :D

The Shadow Council in this movie were the guys from TheGamers: Dorkness Rising and all of the Dead Gent films. They are a group of D&D players from way back, who make super funny movies and shows on Youtube. I think the film is ment to be satirical but they presented it as "Religious" just to get the rights to make it.

From what I remember the people behind this movie were in on the joke since some of the actors were broadway performers told to intentionally ham up the acting. Seems their goal was to parody the story by playing completely straight and showing how absurd it gets

There were guys who would hang out outside middle schools and high schools and give out these tracks to children. We would trade them around with each other and laugh at how stupid they were.

Once again it's time to see a clear example of "Kids enjoy this, must be the work of the Devil".

I am unironically convinced this movie was made as satire to the original story, but they somehow got the stamp of approval on it, there is NO way anyone took this seriously XD

Imagine your hanging out with your friends only for the neighbors to have you arrested for satanism.

So thing to note the people who made this film were completely in on the joke. Their most famous production is called “the gamer” and it is about a dnd group who are constantly bickering with each other in the middle of session and are struggling to get through the campaign, this is also what’s up with them repeating shadow in this film because one of the main villains of the dnd campaign in the gamer is a guy called ‘the shadow’ and it’s a recurring joke that whenever anyone says his name everyone in the scene repeats it.

Fun fact: Chick Tracts were completely trolled by the makers of this movie. They just wanted to troll the christian community.
Hence why the movie is so over the top. Its not christians being tone-deaf, its a group of people playing on that very fact.

This is one of my favourite Jontron Videos, yet so few people react to it. Thank you for this. This was great.
