  I love how Spiff just kinda ignored the fact that the last line of the kingdom of pirates was &quot;But they have heard of me&quot; which I feel is a subtle nod to Pirates of the Caribbean which basically doubles down on the meme of the characters name

  The thing about the concept of this character is: There was actually a pirate bishop of the Isle of Mann. He was called Wimund (also spelt Wymund) and took up the Bishopric in 1100. And he took up piracy because, as the spiffing Yorkshire Tea drinker said, the Isle of Mann has an absolute garbage province. Wimund later got captured, ha his eye poked out and was locked away in a monastery in Carlisle.
