BACK TO THE FUTURE SHOWS US HOW AMBITIOUS WE WERE FOR OUR OWN FUTURE AND EVEN AFTER SO MANY YEARS IT STILL ISN'T AS COOL, I WANT MY FLYING CAR, I WANT MY SELF DRYING CLOTHES AND SELF TYING SHOES BECAUSE I AM LAZY AND WOULD MAKE ME ENJOY LIFE AT LEAST 1% MORE!

Lifelong Cubs fans here. We absolutely call them the Cubbies. In the movie, they won the 2015 World Series. In real life, they won the 2016 World Series.

They never planned on making a sequel to the first film. They put the flying car at the end as a gag. The studio demanded they write a sequel after box office results.

That's the thing, though. BTTF wasn't supposed to have sequels. Gale and Zimmeckis wrote it to be a stand alone film with an open ending (they've said if they'd known they were going to have to write sequels they never would have put Jennifer in the Delorean at the end of the OG lol), which makes the cohesiveness of the trilogy even more impressive.

We don’t need flying cars. People can’t even drive on the ground.

6:58 Christopher Lloyd actually did wear a layer of prosthetic make-up to look older while filming the scenes set during 1985 in the first film. So to avoid forcing Lloyd to wear those prosthetics for the sequels, they wrote it into the script that Doc got plastic surgery in the future. That way, he can peel off the prosthetics in this scene and never have to worry about putting them back on again.

Crispin Glover (George McFly) didn’t come back for the second movie, so they used old footage from the first movie and an actor to sound similar and with prosthetics, although they turned him upside down in the one scene to make it less obvious. It turned into a lawsuit as Universal used his likeness without permission and Crispin won.
