  I was snowed in one winter and the power went out. I started rummaging through the books my mom had and I found the &quot;Age of Innocence&quot; I started reading it and couldn&apos;t stop. A few weeks later I had a dream, and in that dream I was sitting on a bench in a city, it felt like the late afternoon. A woman came up to me and asked me if I would hold her dog while she went and did something, I didn&apos;t catch what it was, I sat and waited for a long time and then a man came up and said, &quot; she won&apos;t be coming back, I&apos;ll take care of the dog. That&apos;s when I woke up.<br>Years later I watched a video about this lady and I saw what she looked like for the first time. The lady in my dream looked just like Edith Wharton.

  She died 84 years ago today and is still one of the greatest writers who ever wrote. Ethan Frome is my favorite of her novels. &nbsp;I love the way she writes about the New York Familes of the 19th and early 20th Century. They really ruled New York in every way. They in there way was the Mafia before the Mafia. Thank you Miss Wharton for all your books.

  She &nbsp;was &nbsp;my &nbsp;Grandma&apos;s &nbsp;idol &nbsp;Im &nbsp;83 &nbsp;and &nbsp;still &nbsp;read &nbsp;her letters &nbsp;to my gdmother

  Miss Wharton was my favorite author in youth... now81 I still rem her books with affection&amp;admiration.

  There was a time when everyone read Wharton&apos;s Ethan Frome in High School. It was mandatory for a well rounded education. We &nbsp;have lowered our standards in basic education.

  We were fortunate years ago to tour the house. &nbsp;Magnificent! &nbsp;Henry James visited there.<br>The gardens are marvelous. &nbsp;A trip to see the house and gardens is worth it if you are in the area. &nbsp;A slice of life preserved to perfection!

  Edith Wharton is still one of my most favorite writers. True American literature in every sense. &nbsp;Henry James could have learned a lot about readable writing style from her.
