Samwise is the embodiment of what Tolkien saw during the Great War when "lower class" men rose above the expectations (and actions at times) of the upper class officers and showed true bravery

Frodo and Sam are two halves of the hero team for the ages. Only Frodo's unflinching inner determination and Sam's unbreakable loyal strength could support each other.

I like the troubled, hollow expressions of neutrality, even when smiling, that Frodo has after the scene where he reunited with the fellowship.<br><br>An example is when everyone bows to the Hobbits. Frodo looks uncomfortable, as if he knows he failed at the end and the adulation is almost undeserved. I don't doubt that he would be being too hard on himself, since the power of the ring was enormous.

Always found Smeagol/Gollum quite a sympathetic character, just another wrecked vessel on the ring's journey.<br>He didn't ask for the ring's influence, but it happened.

tolkien said that inside the heart of mount doom, the rings influence is the strongest it can be, that nobody, not sam, elrond or even gandalf would be able to resist it and all will eventually succumb to it.

I've seen those movies many, many times since 2001. And read the books a couple of times. <br><br>The "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you." And the "You bow to no one" always break me. 🥺

I love how the formation of the orc army surrounding the Army of Gondor and Rohan forms a ring. Symbolism of a ring of hope against the one ring.
