This week I did yet another interview about why I left the Mormon church, and afterward I kept thinking about how hard I had tried to stay, and how hard everything about my religion pushed me out the door.<br><br>QUESTION: Are you one of the many women who USED to go to church and now does not?   Millennial here, purity culture that blamed women for everything pushed me out the door. If I&apos;m a problem for existing then I&apos;ll just leave 🤷🏻‍♀️

  Christian husbands feel jealous over their wives&apos; maiden names? They feel offended that she had a whole life and existence before meeting them? Or that she has family other than them? How sick is that?

  The reasons why many women are leaving church is due to the prevalent misogyny in religious dogma and doctrine, encompassing patriarchy in religious structure, itself, and persistent unwillingness of church leaders to address these issues and find solutions to them. Personally, as a non-religious woman, I haven&apos;t felt more free than when I left religion. I think women, everywhere, are waking up to the fact that religion doesn&apos;t benefit us. It is refreshing to see that more women are taking control over their own lives without religious dogma&apos;s influence; it will be eye-opening to see more women live life for themselves and become the self-actualized beings that we were meant to be.

  I left because I didn’t want my sons absorbing the kind of purity culture that still has Christians quibbling over women’s cosmetic and clothing choices rather than feeding the hungry, caring for the needy, and actually being a force of goodness in the world. &nbsp;They just want to sell a shallow, legalistic lifestyle and hang out in their little cliques.

  The whole world runs on women&apos;s unpaid labor, as does all religion. The best thing that is happening is women deciding to not provide free labor for institutions that hate them and yet can&apos;t survive without them. I think it&apos;s going to be seismic, how that shakes out.

  Most religions preach patriarchy. Why must women sacrifice their lives and bodies for eternity? That&apos;s not God&apos;s will - That&apos;s man&apos;s will.

  Apparently, the LDS, like most conservative religions, want the babies birthed, but couldn’t care less about the quality of life for that baby or the family.

  I wish they would mention the sins of not paying your taxes, not helping those in need, not obeying the laws of the land, and not judging others.<br><br>The sins they always mention are not even in the Bible.
