  Unknown regions feels like a misnaming. Since they&apos;re quite decently known, just unstable as fuck. I&apos;m still convinced the Unknown Regions and Wild Space should have their names swapped

  Because Palpatine knew better, even despite all his delusions of grandeur. You gotta consolidate/have full control over what territory you already have, before prepping for dangerous foreign elements in the vast frontier at your back

  The general theory going back years is that the Unknown Region was this artificial buffer trying to keep something out of the rest of the galaxy.

  tbh it makes absolutely no sense that there are space-traveling beings in the unknown regions and it&apos;s somehow still not mapped. you&apos;re telling me the entire republic couldn&apos;t find a single intact map from the Rakatan empire, when the Starforge is still working 20k years later?

  I wonder how much the pre-Palpatine Sith explored the Unknown Regions. &nbsp;There were some Sith Empires that lasted for centuries and also some of the Sith from Bane&apos;s lineage that could have been messing around out there. &nbsp;Could explain how Palpatine was aware of Exgol, one of his predecessors actually discovered it.

  The Unknown Regions weren&apos;t explored by the Empire because they were extremely unstable and the species that lived were also extremely dangerous, one even covering entire planets in the form of a grey sludge within the Unknown Regions.
