  Not sure if anybody’s recommended it before, but Guy Martin has some amazing programmes on the world wars and other military history. Rebuilds a spitfire, recovers a lost WW2 bomber, covers the great escape, last flight of the Vulcan bomber. They’re over an hour long but are fantastic for in your spare time or perhaps Patreon

  Al Murray and JAmes Holland did a youtube series on the Battle of Britain Day by Day. There was so much I didn't know previously and although it's a significant investment in time, it's well worth a watch. Spoiler, the Luftwaffe didn't have much of a chance for various reasons, especially because they didn't understand what they were getting into and, efrfectively, they were losing from day 1!

  Ive had the pleasure of flying in a Spitfire, my wife paid for it for my 50th birthday. Probably the greatest experience of my life. Thank you sweetie ❤❤

  The P 51 Mustang had a Merlin engine which made it an excellent fighter. There is a You Tube video of a WW2 ME 109 fighter pilot given a flight in a Spitfire .

  King Boomer, it might be interesting to look into your fellow countrymen who fought in the battle of britain, probably the most famous being Billy Fiske, who gave his life defending Britain.

  The plane from that era I love is the Fairey Swordfish, aka the Stringbag.  It's an open-cockpit biplane mostly made of wood and was amazingly successful in WW2 due to short takeoff and landing which meant it could be operated from ships, it had a very low radar profile and that it was so slow it could fly low and was very difficult for enemy ships to (a) detect and (b) target if they did see it coming.  A relative of mine flew those on the Arctic convoys - imagine that.

  In my younger days, I knew a man who flew these beasts in WW2. They certainly lived lives back then.
