20 Things Burglars Do the Week Before They Hit Your Street

20 Things Burglars Do the Week Before They Hit Your Street A burglary doesn't start when the glass breaks. It starts a week earlier, in a parked car, on a walk around your block, with a clipboard and a story you barely remember hearing. Roy Callahan spent 26 years in law enforcement, the first dozen on patrol and the rest working plainclothes property crime, and he sat across the table from the men who did this for a living. Almost none of them hit a house cold. Every one of them worked the street first. In this video, Roy counts down the 20 things a burglar actually does in the seven days before he picks your house, in the order they tend to happen. The fake canvasser who's really counting who's home. The same car rolling past at 7:40 three mornings straight. The package he has delivered just to see how long it sits. The nine "wrong number" calls that were really a schedule. The trash-day drive-by, the alley walk behind your fence, the switch to a forgettable rental car right before the job, and the one final pass on foot where the entire plan either holds or falls apart. None of these signs proves anything alone. Stacked together over a week, they're the only warning most homeowners ever get. Roy explains how to spot the pattern on day two instead of day five, and which fixes cost nothing but attention. Roy has compiled all of these methods into a manual.
