In order to save as many lives as possible, ought we not be wresting power away from the elites now and restructuring society, redistributing resources, radically re-purposing infrastructure and land use, waking up and revolutionising the collective values and goals upon which our societies are built? We clearly have little to lose. If this is not the LAST call to action, what is? This generation has been summoned to do what is right to save the only known island of life in the universe. What the hell are we waiting around for?

They took our survival mindset and turned it into a hustle mindset, so now everything is about money.

5 years ago, a destructive, never seen before tornado killed 6, injured hundreds and destroyed the homes and livelihoods of thousands, including that of my uncle and his family. This happened in Czechia, a place not known for tornadoes. I was just a teenager at that time, but I took time off school to help my uncle and to offer a helping hand to others in his neighbourhood. What I saw was something I wasn't ready for, I've never thought that nature could do something like that, especially where I live. It looked like apocalypse.
3 years after that, I became a municipal firefighter - with the goal to help everyone who needs it, to strenghten my community. Only a few months later, Czechia experienced some terrible floods and again, I was out there witnessing it for myself, in the middle of it, helping those in need.
1 year after the floods, the summer is getting hotter, tons of fish die in my local river die due to high temps, algae boom, low water levels.
2 years afterthe floods, I am living through the worst heatwave in Czech history, temperature records have been broken twice, once again the algae in my local river combined with the droughts and low water levels caused tons upon tons of fish to die. The politicians knew it happened the last year, the institutions knew it happened the last year too, everyone knew it happened once and that it would happen again, but no one has done anything. Instead, people have voted in absolute idiots, oligarchs, and brainless people into the government, our new minister of foreign affairs declared that global warming doesn't exist, that he cancelled it, and that apparently the aspect of summer is that it's hot, and in winter it's cold. The minister for environment is a mere puppet, far-right teenage boys with no qualifications are getting appointed into high places in the ministry for environment. People need to wake up - I am aware that politics are a scummy business, no politician is a saint, but we need to vote for future, we can't just let senior citizens vote for their own good and high pensions when no one is having kids, no one has enough money, etc.
Anyway, I am now watching Europe burn, my colleagues are deployed in Greece to help the local firefighters handle things over there, our helis are deployed to France. We ourselves are dealing with plenty of fires here - and the world just keeps burning on and getting hotter.
My girlfriend and I originally wanted a kid or two, but we've changed our minds, we just don't think it's good for their future. I don't think it's a responsible thing to do at this time.
I am tired of everything, I am not happy in daily life, there's nothing to look forward to. I've always wanted to be an explorer, writer, photojournalist - I naively thought I could be all of that when I was younger, but there's just no room for such dreams. Our lives are crushed by the capitalistic system that keeps on plundering and plundering - both the Earth and us and our time. I also can't just quit on my calling as a firefighter now, especially since things will just keep getting worse, there'll be more emergencies, more people dying, more suffering.
I urge all of you to vote for our future, support work unions, do guerilla gardening, clean up trash, educate people - open peoples' eyes, invest in renewables for yourself, learn skills for the future, try to become self-sustainable.
I love the Earth and I love humanity, I don't want to die early, I am scared.

P.S: Sorry for the rambling, I have nowhere else to share my thoughts.

I hear the grief in this, and I think a lot of people are carrying similar feelings right now. What stood out to me wasn't the prediction itself, but the question underneath it: "How do we choose to live when the future feels uncertain?" For me, that's where the bridge is.
Maybe none of us truly know what the next 25 years hold. History has surprised humanity with both disasters and breakthroughs. But while we're here, we still have choices. We can plant trees we may never sit under. We can love people while they're here. We can create art, share meals, rescue kittens, help strangers, and leave the world a little softer than we found it. The future may be written in probabilities, but the present is still written in choices. Thanks for sharing your thoughts from the forest. They gave me something to reflect on. 🌲

And to think they are crying about younger generations not wanting to have children. Bro, IDK if I'll make it to 50. Why would I put another innocent life on this planet, knowing what is ahead of us?
