  Im honestly suprised Gale didn't fully crash out at learning that the strongest spell he could cast was burning hands after the nautiloid.

  The second I saw the title I knew it was Gale. It’s a no brainer, at full strength he would one tap Karlach and Wyll at the same time. He’s Mystra’s chosen, her lover, an arch wizard, and has the respect of the strongest wizard in dnd. He makes all other companions seem like children who just learned to touch a weapon for the first time

  Gale's unnecessarily long resurrection ritual should also be proof enough. He has a programmed illusion (6th level spell) cast on himself, to give you instruction on how to conjure a minor elemental (4th level) to give you a scroll of true resurrection (9th level). that scroll could resurrect anyone who's been dead for less than 200 years and even constructs a new body for creatures who had theirs destroyed. Mayrina's husband would have been a non-issue with that thing and just casting the spell (considering you know it) costs 25,000 gold.

  Mystra even tells Gale that she was surprised the orb stopped at sucking his magic away. That probably means it would have killed almost anyone else, but Gale had enough raw connection to the Weave to prevent that from happening to him. The man’s a depowered legend.

  I feell that you missed one small detail with Gale. He mentions in a conversation about Mistra that she limits the magical power that any mortal can achieve, and he claims to have reached such a limit and asks his lover goddess for an exemption from it. His claim if true means he has literally reached the pinnacle of magecraft such that the only way to get stronger would be for Mistra to allow it. Just food for thought.

  I always figured the tadpoles are the reason they're currently weak, which also means their previous strength is the reason they're getting strong again so fast.

  Actually... The healer SHOULD be the one to survive. A party should prioritize protecting them above all others because the longer she lives the longer they <b>all</b> live

  Its crazy to me that for all that Gale sounds arrogant and condescending when you talk with him, he is actually being pretty humble and understating himself by quite a bit.

  WRT why Gortash sold Karlach to Zariel - her heart was a prototype for the engine used by the Steel Watch. &nbsp;If you have her in your party when you speak to a Steel Watcher you get this dialogue: &quot;Citizen. You are being accompanied by a malfunctioning Steel Watcher. [...] Your unit is a highly outdated model. [...] Your make is very obsolete.&quot; and Karlach comments &quot;If it turns out I&apos;m a fucking prototype for these things, I&apos;ll dismantle every single one of them.&quot; &nbsp; <br><br>From the sounds of it Gortash was letting Zariel use the infernal engines to strengthen her soldiers, in turn Gortash got to test them for the Steel Watchers, but that&apos;s purely my own speculation.
