Correction - Very sorry everyone, but as pointed out, the word "Dagan" doesn't mean "corn," but rather, it is a more general term for "grain." Apologies for the mistake.

You know the bad thing is that if we ever did find out that mermaids or any other cryptid existed people would just end up making them go extinct because people would want them for their tails or fur or whatever

7:23 I live in Hawaii and seal sightings are pretty frequent but i was cliff diving one day near the coastline. As soon as my body hit the water i opend my eyes half way through my descend and i made EYE CONTACT WITH A HUMANOID FACE!!! 😨😳 it scared the shit outta me and i panicked! Started booking it to shore!!! Only to realize it was a young SEAL!!! 😂😂😂 I was relieved but at the same time couldn't believe how human it looked underwater for that split second. It had the bigggest blackest eyes which will forever be burnt into my memory.

If you really think about it. We're on a planet that's 70% water mermaids have more reason to exist than we do.

As a side note, freshwater mermaids are called "nixies" and are quite common in Celtic mythology.

Unlike a lot of uploaders this guy actually checks things independently and for that he has greater respect from me than many

In the 1980's I was almost bit by an old shark that looked like an old piece of wood. It hit my foot twice. And I torpedoed myself to the beach shore. Saving my life was better than any lottery prize. Thanks.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate how you talk about your sources and how you've obviously spent a great deal of time ACTUALLY researching this topic/ sources. I will DEFINITELY be back. Thank you!

While i am 100% with you on this. I will say that even though the mockumentaries mislead the audience and stuff, Mermaids the body found single handedly sparked my passion for marine biology as a whole.
My fascination started out small and focused just being on cetacean vocalization, but has now lead me YEARS later into a much deeper adoration with all life within our oceans and i cannot thank them enough.
So while it is true that they can mislead an audience, they can also be responsible for igniting the imagination and opening people up to the incredible biodiversity within our oceans.

All in all though, great video sir. And i very much appreciate the serious unbiased take here, well put together and professional :)

I remembered when that ‘Mermaids are Real’ Mockumentary came out.

Good thing I can recognize terrible CGI and movie-like shots of ‘found footage’

That's as comical as the photo of Stephen Spielberg next to a stegasaurus lying on the ground, and people were outraged about trophy hunting and those animals are endangered.
I wish I made that up.
