Lake isn't making this crap up. He has the data to support his position.

What I learned from Lake is that I don't need to pay attention to any other social media presence regarding lubrication. He's the goat.

Lake Speed Jr just posted a video about oil change intervals.
New engines shed so much break in trash in the first 10-15k miles. Oil analysis takes all the guess work out of when oil and filters require changing. Also stated as oil filter accumulate engine crud, their efficiency improves.

I lived by 4k oil and filter changes and have used analysis for years. If you're going to spend $50k on a new truck, a couple of $100 oil changes a year, appears to be a good thing

Lake Speed's advice was the right advice for your engine at 500 miles. Congrats on your new truck!

I do this on every new vehicle I buy. And I’ve been doing it for years! Definitely not a waste of money..

Lake is not wrong. As you are seeing. I have always done the same on every new engine build I owned and the only new car I’ve ever owned. Everything I own has over 200K on them.

We have been building engines for over 40 years. We always run a new engine for 30 minutes with a break in oil or additive, dump the oil and filter. We ask the customer to return at 1,000 miles for their second oil and filter change. Next is at 3,000 miles. We always recommend 3,000 oil changes for most vehicles. With vehicles that have over 10 quarts of oil we go 5,000 miles.

This has worked very well over the years. Good luck with your truck. I think your videos are very informative.

When I build an engine, I don't even wait 500 miles. Oil gets changed after 20 min on the break in stand.
