Such a lovely wander around... thank you 😊. In my opinion travelling really makes one change one's perspective on so many things, sooner or later... Slightly grating, the luxury malls and the reverence for Ho Chi Minh (and the statue was gold colored, too, at that 😉) If you go to Hue when you are in Vietnam next time, you can visit the Chua Thien Mu pagoda and monastery where the monk who immolated himself set out from. Very impressive place, beautiful and free of charge. You can even take part in prayer time with the monks chanting in the afternoon ... Looking forward to more Vietnam videos...😊🙏

Like you, I don’t appreciate being haggled to buy something whenever I travel. 😢<br>I recall being surprised at how much of the architecture in Saigon (during our visit many years ago) had French influence.<br>Yes, I recall quite vividly the Saigon Post Office with the huge portrait of HCM. Don’t recall being so touristy back in the day however. I purchased many beautiful Vietnamese stamps for my collection. 👍🏻<br>Also recall very well touring the Presidential Palace. Very interesting as an old fart like me recalls seeing on TV the fall of Saigon and the capture of this building in particular. Thanks Lee for refreshing my memory. I recall the War room and the underground bunkers. Worth a visit.<br>Great point Mandy with a gold statue of HCM within sight of pure capitalism. 😂

Very very different to my 2001 visit to all the same places! Glad to see the update and looking forward to when I can afford the flight to see the changes for myself, although think I’ll miss the less crowded version I saw all those years ago! Thank you for such a comprehensive guide to district one!

Had to laugh at this - 100% what we did on our first visit in 2025. I've just come back from a 2nd trip, and this time I just walked around, ducking down interesting looking streets and visiting non tourist markets. Hopefully Notre Dame will be reopened when i next visit 😊.
