  Montana will completely blow your mind, at night in camp by yourself you can hear everything imaginable, it can also be so quiet it makes you wonder if anything is out there. Have fun

  Get some buffalo bore or underwood 200-220 grain hard cast 10mm. That’s what I carry when I’m guiding in Alaska. Also almost every guide that I know up there carries a 10mm. I’ve seen a couple 44 magnums but the general consensus is more rounds with faster follow up shots are better.

  Good video!  I choose the 454 Casull for my bear country sidearm.  From what I’ve read, Grizzlies require something with over 1,000 foot pounds of muzzle energy to dispatch them.  There have been instances where a grizzly was found with a healed over .45 slug embedded in their skulls.  I don’t know if they were hard-cast or not, but the idea doesn’t fill me with confidence.  Sure you can have plenty of rounds in your mag, but a charging bear is fast and adrenaline spiking.  My 454 Casull puts out over 1,600 ft/lbs of muzzle energy while having more manageable recoil than the 460.  For me it’s a few well placed rounds out of my manageable hand cannon of a Casull.

  Don’t forget they’ll potentially be running towards you at 35 mph for well over any distance you could consider running!   So maybe you’ll get 🤷🏻‍♂️two shots off before your bounced on and scalped! 😮

  My family that lives in Montana always says that a 10mm with the proper ammo selection (Underwood 200gr) is just fine for bear defense. They have lived there forever and the problem with carrying a huge pistol like a .460 is 1-IF you can get a shot off it’s only going to be one shot 2-your better off having something that you can fire a bit faster because it’s going to be more comfortable. Aside from the Glock 20 they always have a 12 gauge with slugs while out and about. I carry my 10mm whenever I’m over there and I’m confident with it if I can’t get to my shotgun
