Notes:
Daily Routine:
- Gesture Drawing:
-> Capture energy of a pose in 1-3 minutes with the least amount of strokes possible

- Construction Sheets:
-> get a nearby object and break it down in a simplest shape
-> then try drawing it from imagination
-> if you can, draw it in different angles

- Master Studies:
-> Find an Art Piece from an artist better than you and study it
-> pick 2-3 specific things you want to learn (Light, Silhouette, Color palette, etc.)
-> recreate it with a focus on the 2-3 things (max. 1-2h)

- Weekly piece:
-> Final piece every week
-> take it from start to finish and apply the drills

Time Split daily:
30/30/40 Split
30% goes into Gesture / Construction (Drills)
30% targeted studies / master studies (perspective, anatomy work, other fundamentals/weak points)
40% Personal work (Fanart, Original Art, etc.) -> Finish the drawing! (Struggle and problem solve)

at 30 Min
- 10 min warmup
- 20 min real work

at 2h +
- 20 min warmups
- 20 min targeted studies
- 80+ min real work

no weekend marathons!
Frequency beats duration!

track your progress Monthly
Analyze the art on social media that made you stop for 10 secs, what exactly made you stop?
Do art that is easy for you and do art that is hard for you, keep it 50/50 or 30/70
Warmup is sacred!
Eliminate decision fatigue, write down any drawing ideas, plan next days ahead, know what you want to draw before you draw

that frustration you feel when trying to achieve something above your skill level is your neurons releasing acetylcholine, which is really important for helping trigger neuroplasticity (learning)

I like how you had a reasonable practice time. Some people are like “oh draw 40 hours week like it’s a job”. Brother, I already have a job 😂

Time limits are super important. Losing track of time is an easy trap to fall into as a new artist. Drawing under a stopwatch may feel daunting at first, but it helps you set your priorities straight.
The time limit also prevents you from exhausting yourself. Burnout must be avoided! Taking breaks is important too.

I work a physical job and I draw an hour a day after work. I have a bit more hours after, but when I'm home, I'm just out of it. And now with my days off, I try to dedicate at least one of them to be 3-4 hours long of art sessions. Don't know if this is enough to become a professional in the future and I do feel a bit of guilt of my hours I draw.

My best training was Marcs “ learn at the right time “ method just draw and when you run into an issue learn that then, because then j actually remember it, cause my brain is AFK when drawing boxes etc it’s boring AF 😂

My favourite warmup is flour sacks - they can be kind of people-shaped, but also very bouncy and squishy for fun shapes, too.
