  “If science doesn’t serve my beliefs, we need to abandon science”. As an engineer who I use science to build real world solutions. I can’t build stuff using beliefs. Science isn’t created to serve us, it is a way to figure out how things actually are

  As a local, we just had an expansive shift in elected officials. This is 100% a job created by someone she's buddy-buddied with who has reached a position where they can cut her in. It's vile that she would get this bullshit allocation of tax dollars when there are so many ACTUAL expenses stretching the budget. It's entirely possible she was supposed to keep quiet and collect her paycheck, but she isn't capable of that. The response to the attention she's drawing is going to say a lot.

  I used to feel sorry for Virgie Tovar because, despite her fake confidence and obvious insecurity about everything, she was really only deluding herself. I genuinely hoped she&apos;d get help and surround herself with people who cared about her and had her best interests at heart.<br><br>But now that she&apos;s actively influencing people on an officially government sanctioned level, especially impressionable young children, I don&apos;t feel as much pity for her as I do disgust and anger, and a desire that she be prosecuted. Because lying to people and encouraging them to stuff themselves with unhealthy food and ignore their health or deny reality, all with the backing of the government to make it official, sounds criminal to me.

  I was genuinely disappointed to learn San Francisco hired Virgie. The city actually has quite a low obesity rate, and it felt performative.
