Your videos are always bangers! There's many cool stuff in Gege's writting, and unfortunatelly ~aura and hype moments~ obsessed folks created this stupid notion that the story doesn't have anything good in it, alongside that whole "jjk fans can't read" fame. So it's always amazing when you post stuff!

(I'm a bit sad to see the goat Caterpie is no longer your pfp tho, but Kogane is really cute and fits your channel better haha)

Higuruma and Itadori are both on my Top 3 characters, my second favorite dynamic in the entire manga, and this is my favorite battle in the whole story, so to finally get to see them in colors, animated, discussed, loved and receving so many fanarts by the fandom has been a blast.

I'd like to add a little bit of my own analysis on both episodes:

About the colors Red and Blue:

*On episode 8, when he uses the "It feels better than I thought it would" answer to both taking a bath wearing clothes and on killing, to me this is him masking his true feelings, he's trying to force an "i'm okay" mentality, cuz in reality he's on this downward spiral and is drowning in his own guilt. When he answers the second question of having killed, the red light makes the bathtub water looks like it's blood, to me this symbolizes the blood of the people Higuruma has killed, he was metaphorically, soaking and drowning in his own guilt! That's why on episode 9, when Itadori has made him go back to his roots, he says that, to having killed, actually felt awful.

*The blue color can be associated with sad things but also to purity and harmony, and I think that fits Itadori pretty well! There was a bit of blue on Higuruma, but it was mostly on Itadori during the fight sequence and it combined well with all of the brightness they give Itadori on those final battle moments!

<s>------------------x--------------</s>

About the lightning itself:

*In the part of the episode where Higuruma is holding the executioner sword, about to deliver the final blow to Itadori, the fight is interspersed with a flashback of the older man asking if Higuruma doesn't want to be a judge. Throughout this flashback, the scene is full of light, and it kinda ends with the camera showing the sun shining very brightly, before returning to the fight. And in the fight, Itadori, in Higuruma's eyes, is shining as brightly and powerfully as the sun. And just as it happens when we look directly at the sun: Higuruma cannot look directly at Itadori and closes his eyes, deactivating the sword. To Higuruma, Itadori is the light, the salvation, that makes him, who has been casted into darkness, remember why he decided to become a lawyer.

<s>------------------x--------------</s>
About the placement of the Ending Song on episode 9:

*Yesterday the musical artist (jo0ji) behind this season's Ending song tweeted this: "The Higuruma battle was the episode that determined the overall atmosphere of Yoake no Uta (the name of the ending song of this Season). There was a sense of sadness and resolve between two people who had once violated the justice they believed in, and after much trial and error trying to put this into sound, that song was created. The ending came at an absolutely perfect time, and it almost brought me to tears. Thank you Jujutsu Kaisen."

*It makes so much sense why they decided to play the ending song not after the final scene of the episode, but after Higuruma says it felt awful to kill. As soon as he admits his guilt, the ending song, whose lyrics are pretty much "GUILT, THE SONG", plays. Although the lyrics overall are more on Itadori's POV and feelings during the second half of the story (and even relate to his arc on the Modulo manga) now that he's adopted the cog mentality, it does work for other character who feel guilt. Nice work of the editing team of this episode to choose this placement.

This also explains a lot about ace attorney as well, because there's a long running joke that we have to prove someone else's guilt rather than our clients innocence, which makes a lot more sense considering the public outcry you brought up here.

Id like to also add that his domain, the judgeman, which he held at a high standard also failed him and Yuji. Just like how the Japanese judicial system failed Oe, judgeman failed yuji by condemning the innocent. Higuruma without realizing became the enforcer of a failed system and through Yuji’s unwavering conviction despite the odds showed Higuruma he was doing it for the wrong purpose. And he finally admitted he was wrong, and the judgeman is not immune to be wrong as well as he gathers himself and come to the defense of Yuji

I really wish I new about Japan’s high conviction rate when I watched death note. I really makes you think, a good amount of the “criminals” light killed were probably innocent.

maybe the handsign for higuruma being simply banging the gavel is representative of how new he is to jujutsu, so new that the standard ways of opening a domain were simply not even a concept for him, making him produce a completely new and different way to interpret a handsign. especially since the first thing he does with jujutsu is open a domain, which already makes him an outlier

"Doing something because it's the right thing to do" is the essence of Higuruma, it's why he snaps in the courtroom and it's why Yuji's "retrial" restores his faith in humanity.

Yuji had no reason to accept the guilt and blame for what happened in Shibuya. Blaming Sukuna was reasonable, Higuruma even assumed that's what he would do. But Yuji is too kind of a person - like Higuruma, he believes taking responsibility for something he contributed to in the smallest of ways is the right thing to do. It doesn't matter if Sukuna did all of that - Sukuna was incarnated because of Yuji's actions, that makes him an accomplice at a bare minimum.

Judgeman immediately declaring a guilty verdict even though Higuruma knew the reality of Yuji's situation was his own experience in that courtroom being thrown back in his face. He concedes because to take the fight seriously after that would be to show he was no better than the judges that condemned an innocent man to life in prison. Something he could have been a hand in preventing more generally had he accepted a position as a judge himself.

The major underlying theme of JJK is that the old ways in and of themselves are a "curse." You cannot expect things to change for the better if you do not change them yourself.

Almost 99% of manga is "social hierarchy is killing people, and I have to kill it first"

At some point, the Chekov's gun might look like a literal gun drawn and have it's description bubble text.

Another factor that might add to the high conviction rate is the statistic itself.
Imagine you're a defense lawyer.
You work long hours.
You get paid next to nothing.
You have never been within a mile of actually winning a case.
And every day you have that stat looming over you.
A constant reminder that what you're doing is almost certainly pointless.
A show.
A theater play.
An illusion of justice.
Sooner or later you'll think about it.
The fact that it doesn't really matter if you do a good job or not.
Whether or not you really try will not affect the outcome.
So why not relax a little.
Do the bare minimum.
Phone it in.
"Sorry, I tried."
(Not really)
Maybe, if you lose faster, you can take on more cases.
More cases, more money.
Not much, never much.
But when you have little, a little goes a long way.
It feels a little wrong to do this.
But remember the stat.
They wouldn't take the case to court unless they were sure.
The guy did it.
Guilty.
Why try so hard to save a criminal?
Its not like winning would change your life.
Next week you would have a new hopeless case to defend.
Better to just let go.
To just let justice happen.

It’s crazy how “double jeopardy” would have prevented Higuruma from losing faith. The U.S. judicial system has so, so many flaws, but ensuring that someone cannot be kept in prison once they’ve been exonerated/ruled innocent, they’re free forever and it’s usually guilty verdicts that get appealed. Mind you, our system is horribly flawed, but this would have helped with not re-trying so many innocent people.
